How to Solve Our Human Problems with Prayers for World Peace
Sunday Mornings with Jody Monahan
10:00 - 11:15 am *new time*
July 6 - 27

When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as the problem, but in reality whatever problems we experience come from the side of the mind. If we respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us. By following Buddha's teachings we can learn to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development.

Join us for guided meditation, teaching, discussion and refreshments. $10 per class, $5 for students, seniors and unemployed; no pre-registration necessary.

Equalizing and Exchanging Self with Others
Wednesday Evenings 7:00 - 8:30pm *new time*
July 9, 16, 23, 30

Exchanging self with others does not mean that we become someone else and they become us. What we exchange is the object of our cherishing. At present we are the object of our cherishing mind, but when we exchange self with others the object of our cherishing becomes other sentient beings.

Taking and Giving
Wednesday Evenings 7:00 - 8:30pm
August 6, 13, 20

The practice of taking and giving is a powerful meditation technique for improving and stabilizing our love and compassion for others. Combining virtuous intentions with a special visualization, we can practice taking and giving both on the meditation cusion and in our daily activities.

Each talk is a part of a series and yet self-contained. You can drop into the series anytime and still feel that you have something worthwhile to take home with you. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. No registration required.

Cost is $10 ($5 for students and seniors)

Group Meditations

Avalokiteshvara Puja -- Wednesdays at 6:00pm

AvalokiteshvaraAvalokiteshvara is an enlightened being who is the manifestation of the compassion of all Buddhas. If we rely sincerely upon Avalokiteshvara and recite his mantra with strong faith, temporarily we will improve our realizations of the stages of the path, especially our realization of great compassion, and ultimately we will attain supreme Buddhahood in the Pure Land of Bliss. (30 minutes)

Heart Jewel with Lamrim Meditation -- Sunday 11:30am

Je TsongkhapaThis practice is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit. and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for a twenty-minute meditation on Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. After the meditation we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugdän. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations. (1 hour)
